Zakaria Zahari (1978, Kuantan)

Born in Pekan, Pahang but was brought up in Singapore. Entered MRSM Kuantan in 1974 and was the best English medium student for MCE in 1978. Attended Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland and graduated with MBBCh in 1986.

Came back to Malaysia and served various hospitals around, culminating in surgical training in Hospital Kuala Lumpur in 1989. Became a Paediatric Surgeon in 1993 and Head of Department in 2000.

Currently serves as the National Adviser for the Ministry of Health for Paediatric Surgery and a member of the Liver Transplantation Program at Selayang Hospital.

Was never previously active in Ansara Kuantan due to work commitments, but decided to stand for election this term (2011-2013).
